2007 yamaha v star 1300 problems.
The V Star feels a little cheap and primative compared to my Road Star, well it is cheaper than a Road Star and almost 300lbs lighter and with a single disk front and rear drum brakes and absence of a fuel gauge it is a little primative, but that's what makes it afortable entry level bike.
Used 1300 Sugar Bear for one would take a really close look. If you can find out who had it and how they road, better yet talk to the owner. Read a lot of posts on here, you will find some of the guys should have got a crotch rocket instead of a cruiser type ride.1. Repeated Whining Problem. Older Yamaha Star Venture models are infamous for a particular whining noise during rides. The noise is mainly absent on startup and increases as the bike speeds up, reaching a crescendo around 60-75 mph. Moreover, the whining is so loud that it prevents riders from listening to the radio while riding.My wife's 1300 V Star has an intermittent speedometer sticking. Been to the dealer 4 times but can't find the cause. Yamaha Customer Service says this is a unique problem that they have never heard of. (no help) If anyone has had this issue, please let me know all the details and if you had to go to a Yamaha dealer to get a fix.Not sure if that bike has a carburetor or not but there could be some crap in the carb bowl. I would drain and remove the tank and clean it thorough. Clean out the fuel filter. Make sure fuel line is clear. Take of the carb bowl, at least. I might even disassemble and clean the entire carb while I’m at it. 1.
