I put a $50 Primary Arms rifle red dot on mine. I wanted it cheap so I could poke my toe into red dot world to see what it's about. It's actually a fun combo. Under 15ft though, I start to notice height over bore. But mostly, I don't care. So I suspect if you don't mind that, you don't really need a low profile mount.
