When running at idle the pressure jumps to 80 psi, oscillating between 75 and 85. Disconnecting the vacuum line to the regulator has no effect on the pressure. What are the best ways to save fuel? Blow into each of the lines removed above and pay attention to the pressure. You may have to add a short piece of hose to be able to reach them. Heated them with a heat gun to bend them to shape and install the new Dorman quick disconnects. The pressure line has a 5/16" quick disconnect and the return is an odd 3/8" quick disconnect that steps down to a 5/16" line. I usually head over to the pick-a-part and salvage vacuum lines off of XJs or other chrysler products. Really, you're just looking for the rubber ends as vacuum tubing is readily available and fairly easily shaped with a few burns to your hands and a decent heat gun.If I had it to do all over again, I'd use the hard plastic line that is used on newer vehicles. So much easier to work with, and is not subject to vibration cracking, work hardening, being crushed etc... 3/8" and 5/16" is what I used. That would only work if you added a one-way valve to the line to prevent drainback, which would make repriming the line after each shutdown difficult.
